Pronounced BLAD-noch, meaning Place of small splinters. Currently, the most southerly working distillery in Scotland, Bladnoch also hosts occasional whisky schools were participants get their hands dirty, undertaking the various processes of spirit production for themselves.
Listed as home distiller 1818. Reconstructed and refurbished 1878. Closed 1905-1911. Closed during WWI. Sporadic production until 1937. Closes again 1937 and the equipment are sold to Sweden. Opens again 1956. Expands from two to four pot stills 1966. Dismantled Jun 1993-Dec 2000. Stopped production 2009 and went into liquidation in 2014.
