Pronounced Boon-a-havun, this distillery, although it may not seem obvious at first glance was constructed in the style of a Bordeaux watchtower or castel.

Since 2003 quantities of more heavily peated spirit have been distilled annually at Bunnahabhain for blending purposes and a single malt bottling.

In the early 1960’s they started to use another water source. Expands from one to two pair of pot stills 1963 and the floor-malting ends (three floors). Closed 1982-84. Closed Oct 2002-Jan 2003.

Since late 1990 ‘s they make some (20%?) peated spirit annually.
