About Balvenie

Pronounced bal-VEN-ee Meaning Beathan’s Farm.

Balvenie was William Grant’s second distillery built just four years after it’s neighbour Glenfiddich. The first spirit began to flow in May 1893. The distillery was upgraded and capacity was increased during the 1950’s and 60’s with new stills been added in 1957, 1965 and 1971 taking the compliment up to nine. Balvenie was first officially bottled in 1973 and currently occupies 10th place in the list of global best selling single malts. Balvenie is one of just six Scottish distilleries which still operates it’s own floor maltings..
