Pronounced edra-DOWER meaning between two waters. Long renowned as the smallest distillery in Scotland, Edradour produces in a year what an average Speyside distillery turns out in a week. If the spirit still was any smaller it would be illegal.
“Some Perthshire farmers” may have started it 1825 (Glenforres). In 1886 it had a 1,000 gallons mash tun. Four washbacks 1,000 gallons each. Two pot stills, 740 and 420 gallons. Today it has a 1,15 tonnes cast iron mash tun, Two washbacks made of Oregon pine, one pair of pot stills and a 100 year old worm tub.
Edradour (SMWS 32). Ballechin (malt ppm 50). Since a few year part of production heavily peated.
